Welcome to 2018! Hoping everyone had a restful holiday break. We had a terrific few months before break that were loaded with many neat events for our students. We had our Mystery Readers come in and read to our students in grades K-3 that met the qualifications of the at home reading program. Readers such as Ronald McDonald, The Gingerbread Girl, and even a giant butterfly made a guest appearance to read to our students! The elementary was honored to have a terrific Veterans Day Assembly where students recognized our local Veterans by singing songs, writing essays, and playing music from our Jr High band. Mr. William Squier was our guest speaker. He explained to the students about submarines, what they were used for and what life was like at sea. We also participated in the Hour Of Code where Mr Tyler our computer teacher had all students in grades 3-6 participate in this global event. Students learned to write code and they were engaged in higher level problem solving from a technological aspect. This was a first for the elementary. To date we have several students that have already written over 1,000 lines of code!! Just before break we had our annual Polar Express play that was put on by our 5th grade students for grades K-5th. The production had dancers, Santa being pulled in a sleigh, a snow machine and every child received milk and cookies on the way out of the performance.
